The Caregivers Support Group will meet on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Alan Astrow, M.D., recently joined New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) as chief of hematology and medical oncology. Nationally recognized and board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, Dr. Astrow specializes in treatment for a variety of cancers, particularly breast cancer and gynecologic cancers.

As a participant in Park Slope's annual Seventh Heaven Street Fair, New York Methodist Hospital will sponsor free blood pressure, podiatry and dental screenings with health information, quizzes, carnival games and giveaways.

At its Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner, New York Methodist Hospital celebrated the more than 1,000 volunteers who collectively gave over 100,000 hours of service to NYM last year. NewYork-Presbyterian today announced that “Unmasking a Killer,” an ad campaign that brings the complex issues of cancer and immunotherapy to life, has won two Clio Health Awards in the categories of Short Form Film and Animated Film Technique.

On November 21, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the launch of NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital’s Cancer Center. The Cancer Center, a collaboration between Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence, provides a full range of personalized cancer services based on the latest medical research in a convenient Westchester location.

The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center recently received a $750,000 grant from the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Representatives from the Center were recognized at the 14th Annual AVON 39 New York Walk in October.
