New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) will host its third annual evening for women's health on Thursday, April 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at NYM's main campus at 506 Sixth Street in Brooklyn.

Sebron Harrison, MD, recently joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) as chief of thoracic surgery. Board certified in both surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Harrison specializes in traditional and minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of cancer and benign diseases in and around the lungs and esophagus.

Eat Right with NYM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Brain Health Awareness Day is on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Diabetes Alert! Day is on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public. Free screenings will be offered, and healthcare professionals will be available to answer questions.

Pediatric neurosurgeons Mark Souweidane, M.D., Jeffrey Greenfield, M.D., and Caitlin Hoffman, M.D., recently joined the faculty of New York Methodist Hospital (NYM). Dr. Hoffman will now be available for on-site appointments at NYM to evaluate children with conditions that impact the brain and spinal cord. Case discussions enlist the expertise of the entire team, which performs any recommended surgical procedures at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, an affiliate of New York Methodist Hospital. Drs. Souweidane, Greenfield and Hoffman are also members of the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine.

New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) has now established a Child Life Program which provides children with the emotional and psychosocial support that helps them and their families cope with inpatient hospitalizations and visits to the emergency room. The Program is led by Gabrielle Marden, a certified child life specialist who collaborates with the medical team to advocate for the needs of the family. A child life specialist can assess each patient and work to minimize the anxiety and stress of illnesses and medical procedures.

At 12:09 a.m., New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) delivered its first baby of 2016. Baby boy Giovanni Navarro-Caraballo weighs 9 pounds and 2 ounces and measures 19 and 3/4 inches long.
