NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital announced today that it has received national recognition for excellence in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® for a third consecutive time. Magnet recognition is the highest and most prestigious distinction that a healthcare organization can earn for nursing excellence and innovation. Magnet recognition is considered the gold standard and includes a select group of only 7 percent of healthcare organizations in the United States.

Dr. Richard Liebowitz has been appointed president of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, effective February 6. Currently NewYork-Presbyterian’s chief medical officer, Dr. Liebowitz succeeds Mark Mundy, who announced his retirement earlier this year after more than two decades of leadership.

In partnership with Curry Automotive’s Subaru dealerships and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Connecticut, Westchester and Hudson Valley, NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital was chosen as a recipient of “Subaru’s Love Promise” campaign.

The Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) honored Dr. Allan Schwartz at its annual Pulse of the City Gala on December 9 for his vital role in advancing the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease through his dedication to patient care and research.

The AIDS Institute recently recognized NewYork-Presbyterian's Dr. Samuel Merrick for his contributions to clinical excellence in New York State, by naming him a recipient of the prestigious Dr. Linda Laubenstein HIV Clinical Excellence Award. It is the highest honor bestowed by the State for HIV clinical care and leadership.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center has, for nearly eight years in a row, shown a significantly lower risk-adjusted mortality rate compared to all other New York State (NYS) programs, according to the Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Surgery in NYS 2010-2013 Report, which was released earlier this autumn.

NewYork-Presbyterian and New York Methodist Hospital have established a new relationship aimed at improving access and enhancing care for patients in Brooklyn. Following approval by the Department of Health, NewYork-Presbyterian is now the active parent of the Hospital, which has been renamed NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
