Recreation Therapy Assistant
Make the most of the art of healing.
As a volunteer Recreation Therapy Assistant you will use your ideas and talents to create new activities and facilitate events to serve patients on the geriatric psychiatry unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Therapist, you will have the opportunity to provide individual patient support and assist in activity therapy groups. You will use the creative arts and other means of expression to engage patients in ways that enrich their healing. Volunteers have the opportunity to shadow and learn directly from the recreation therapist to advance their professional knowledge in a variety of human service fields.
We would love to hear from you if you are: mature, friendly, creative, supportive, an attentive listener, an effective communicator, interested in mental health and geriatric care
