NewYork-Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine are among the nation’s top healthcare institutions in supporting revised vaccination guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Hudson Valley Hospital Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital have established a new relationship aimed at increasing access to state-of-the-art care for residents of the Hudson Valley and Westchester County. Hudson Valley Hospital Center has been renamed NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital.

NewYork-Presbyterian, in collaboration with Columbia University Medical Center, has received a four year, $10.3 million grant from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (“CJII”) to establish a Youth Opportunity Hub in Washington Heights. The grant will allow NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, along with other community partners, to serve 250 youths aged 14 to 24 years, who have been or are at risk for involvement with the juvenile or adult judicial systems.

The pediatric trauma center at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center has been verified as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was honored for its stroke program at this year’s American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) 2017 International Stroke Conference in Houston, Texas. The AHA/ASA recognizes hospitals that comply with its Get with the Guidelines quality measures, and NYP Brooklyn Methodist was given the Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award as well as a difficult-to-obtain spot on the Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll.

NewYork-Presbyterian has launched Health Matters, a dynamic, new online platform created to share stories of science, care and wellness that are happening every day at one of the nation’s most comprehensive healthcare delivery networks. Health Matters will cover every area of medicine and offer insight from some of the country’s leading healthcare experts.

Dr. Santosh Murthy, an assistant professor of neurology and of neuroscience in the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell Medicine and a neurologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, presented on the risk and timing of arterial thromboembolic events such as stroke and heart attack, in which a clot obstructs blood flow to an artery, after a brain hemorrhage.

A new spiritual care communication board is helping patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) communicate their emotional and spiritual needs. The board, created by the Pastoral Care & Education Department at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, is now available to hospitals and healthcare systems across the country.
