Welcome to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens’ (NYP Queens) Graduate Medical Education (GME) section of the website, which will link you to our individual residency and fellowship programs. NYP Queens is affiliated with the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and is a major teaching institution of the NewYork-Presbyterian health system. NYP Queens is the sponsoring institution for three accredited residency programs (Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery), and six accredited fellowships (Cardiovascular Disease, Gastroenterology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Infectious Disease, Nephrology and Pulmonary Disease/Critical Care Medicine). We also sponsor separately accredited residency programs in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery, Dental & Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology.

NYP Queens is the major teaching site for the OB/GYN and Pediatric residents of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. We offer a wealth of clinical resources for residents from renowned facilities including the Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The presence of all these graduate medical staff contributes to a healthy exchange of ideas between our hospital and other healthcare institutions. In addition, NYP Queens actively participates in educating and training Weill Medical College of Cornell University students. NYP Queens faculty hold academic appointments at the Weill Cornell Medical College.

Queens is the most ethnically diverse county in the US! Nearly 50% of the total population is White, 28% Hispanic, 26% Asian, and 20% Black. Many residents of European ancestry reside in Queens, including Italian, Irish, German and Russian. Queens has the largest Colombian, Ecuadorian, Peruvian and Salvadoran populations in NYC. About half of the Asians living in New York City reside in Queens. According to the latest census, 47.5% of residents are foreign-born. Over 160 languages and dialects are spoken throughout the borough. At NYP Queens, we offer a diversity of patient populations and procedures, and excellent cultural competency training, to optimize your educational experience.

We are committed to the education and development of outstanding physicians who acquire the necessary skills for their chosen career. Just as important, we train physicians who embrace the compassion and humanism to not only treat the disease, but to care for the person with the illness, and his/her family.
