Rotation Assignment Schedule

The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship is a full-time program where dietetic interns are scheduled five days per week. The dietetic intern’s schedule mirrors their preceptor’s, which can start early in the morning (as early as 6:00am) and/or end late (as late at 6:00pm). Dietetic interns can be scheduled any day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Dietetic interns will be scheduled on duty approximately two weekend days over the duration of the program period. All rotations are completed on-site across the eight campuses of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

The dietetic intern receives experiences in providing nutritional care to patients in the following services:

This rotation will expose interns to innovation in the clinical care setting and help them develop a solution-oriented mindset.

Ambulatory Nutrition (3 weeks) – Dietetic interns experience nutrition therapy in the outpatient setting, including nutrition counseling and instruction, to patients through in-person visits and through telehealth.

Precepted Staff Relief (3 weeks) – This experience provides the dietetic intern with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during clinical unit assignments and to demonstrate competence in assuming full responsibility of a staff dietitian’s position.

Professional Development (3 weeks) – Dietetic interns will plan their own learning objectives and experiences in relation to meeting program competency requirements and based on individual interest, self-assessed learning needs, and professional goals.
