Support Services
We offer a range of support services designed to maximize your healing and lower your risk for future orthopedic and health problems.
Nutritional Counseling
It is never too soon to learn how to eat healthfully. Good nutrition before and after orthopedic surgery can help speed wound healing, strengthen your immune system and reduce some of the side effects of pain medications. It is also important to maintain a healthy body weight in order to prevent orthopedic problems.
A person’s weight can be a major factor that contributes to how risky or successful orthopedic surgery will be. Studies show that a patient with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 40 is more likely to experience serious complications both during and after surgery compared to a patient of normal weight. For these reasons, nutritional counseling to help you lose weight before surgery or maintain a healthy weight after surgery may be an important aspect of your orthopedic care plan.
We offer nutritional counseling provided by Registered Dieticians, nutritional experts who are nationally accredited and have completed extensive education in the scientific principles of nutrition and weight management.
