Nutrition for the Cancer Patient
Nutrition education and support impacts both the quality of life and treatment outcome for cancer patients. Studies have shown that nutrition plays a significant role in how a cancer patient tolerates and responds to the recommended treatment, including surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
Our Registered Oncology Dieticians provide nutritional assessment, counseling and recommendations.
Cancer patients are at risk for malnutrition by virtue of their disease. For many cancers, poor nutrition negatively effects prognosis. It is important to incorporate the dietician early in the treatment plan, as part of the multidisciplinary approach to managing a patient with a cancer diagnosis.
