NYM-Introduces-Geriatric-Hip-Fracture-Program

New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) recently introduced a Geriatric Hip Fracture Program, designed to streamline the process of care for elderly patients who have experienced a broken hip. Each year, nearly 300,000 Americans, aged 65 or older, will fracture a hip, usually due to osteoporosis or a fall. The Geriatric Hip Fracture Program was developed with time sensitivity in mind, as immediate attention yields positive results when treating broken hips in older adults.

NYM-Adds-Bariatric-Gastric-Bypass-to-Robotic-Assisted-Surgery

Adding to its advanced robotic-assisted surgery program, New York Methodist Hospital now offers minimally invasive, robotic gastric bypass surgery to help obese patients achieve weight loss of up to 70 percent of body fat. Obesity is defined as having a body mass index, or ratio of height to weight, of greater than 35. NYM is one of only three hospitals in the Northeast to offer robotic gastric bypass surgery.

February-Calendar-Items-2012

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free Breastfeeding Support Group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New-York-Methodist-Hospital-Named-a-Robotic-Surgery-Epicenter

New York Methodist Hospital was recently named a Center of Excellence Epicenter for Robotic Thoracic Surgery, the first such center in the Northeast and the third in the United States. The designation means that the Hospital will be a training facility for physicians from throughout the United States, who will come to New York Methodist to observe robotic thoracic surgery. The daVinci surgical system, a powerful tool, was acquired by NYM last year.
