Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

About the program

The cardiovascular disease fellowship is a three year program designed to train highly skilled specialists and consultants in cardiovascular medicine. Our program is set in a busy urban teaching hospital equipped with the latest technologies in cardiovascular medicine. The program includes a core group of rotations that provides a well-founded understanding of contemporary cardiology. In addition, the research, elective, and flexible components of the fellowship allow the trainee, in collaboration with the program director and mentor, to fashion a program that prepares him/her for different career paths in cardiovascular medicine.

The fellow will be exposed to all areas of cardiovascular medicine including cardiac catheterization and intervention, electrophysiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac MR and CT, cardiac rehabilitation, as well as allied fields such as cardiac and vascular surgery.

• Positions: 4 Fellows per year

The Program Director is Seth H. Goldbarg, M.D., FACC, FHRS, Associate Clinical Professor, Weill Cornell Medical College.

Application

Required:

• American Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or J1 visa
• Completion of a three-year accredited Internal Medicine Program in the United States
• Board eligibility or certification in Internal Medicine

• Program requires USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores for applicant interview consideration

• General expectations are a score of 225 and above on Step 1, 230 and above on Step 2, 1st attempt and passing Step 2 CS on the 1st attempt

• For Osteopathic applicants a score of 500 and above on COMLEX Level 1 and COMLEX  Level  2 CE 1st attempt

• Residents must complete Step 3 by the middle of their PGY-2 year, and incoming Fellows  must have completed it prior to acceptance (i.e. BEFORE the MATCH)

Candidates are evaluated by review of their academic performance, letters of recommendation and personal interview by the Program Director. Selection is conducted via the National Residency Matching Program. Applications for the program are accepted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
