Pulmonary arteries are critical vessels that connect the heart and lungs, allowing blood to flow and carry oxygen to the body. When a child’s pulmonary arteries narrow or close, their lungs won't get enough blood, and their heart can’t function properly. Patients with pulmonary artery conditions are considered high-risk and often face long-term health complications.
The Children's Heart Center at NewYork-Presbyterian is committed to treating even the most complex cardiac cases in children. We provide highly technical pulmonary artery reconstruction and advanced care for pediatric patients with pulmonary artery diseases, including:
- Alagille syndrome
- Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCAs)
- Williams syndrome
