Epilepsy Center
In collaboration with Weill Cornell Epilepsy, NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital provides a team of specialists to care for patients with epilepsy and other seizure disorders and also participates in exciting research focused on helping patients with hard to manage seizures.
The Epilepsy Center is equipped with advanced technology and offers a full array of diagnostic tests for seizure classification and treatment. Our inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit utilizes both video and EEG monitoring to assess the type of epilepsy the patient is experiencing, the frequency and number of seizures, and the onset location of the seizure in the brain. Based on the evaluation, the team will review with the patient the latest advances in therapies available, including the newest anti-seizure medications, surgical treatment of intractable (hard to treat) seizures, and vagus nerve stimulators.
