LGBTQ Resources and Services
Equal Access to Services
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is proud of the diversity of its staff and patients. We serve all members of our community with high quality medical care.
You have the right to receive services, visit loved ones, and participate in our programs and activities regardless of your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, source of payment, age, or any other characteristic, as protected by law.
LGBTQ Resources
We encourage patients and visitors to share preferred pronouns, preferred names, and any and all requests for accommodation with us when checking in and at any time following check-in.
You may notice some of our staff have rainbow flag insignias on their ID badges. These staff members have completed LGBTQ sensivity trainings and are here to assist you with any questions you may have.
All Gender Restrooms are located throughout the main hospital. For directions to the nearest one, please ask at the information desk or a security staff person.
At NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital we are committed to supporting our LGBTQ patients and staff both on our campus and in the community. We are a proud participant in the Brooklyn Pride Multicultural Festival and other LGBTQ-affirming activities coordinated with our community partners. For more information, contact our community affairs team at 718-780-5367.
LGBTQ Leader
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital has received the “LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization. HEI participants are given scores in four criteria: foundational elements of LGBTQ patient-centered care, LGBTQ Patient Services and Support, Employee Benefits and Policies and LGBTQ Patient and Community Engagement.
If you have questions or would like assistance accessing the most appropriate care for you, or our loved one, please contact Tara DiDonato, Director of Patient Services by email or at 718-780-3375.
