The Critical Limb Ischemia Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital is dedicated to the care of people with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Critical limb ischemia is the most severe form of PAD; it may cause ulceration of the skin (such as sores on the lower legs) and even progress to a point where amputation may be required. We offer prompt intervention and prevention to help you achieve and maintain good vascular health.
Comprehensive Expertise
Our innovative Center features an experienced multispecialty team, offering the highest level of specialized care and advanced therapies. We care for people with limb-threatening ischemia (poor blood flow to a leg or arm); non-healing wounds, pain during walking (a symptom of PAD), and diabetes (a major risk factor for PAD). Our vascular specialists are internationally known for the treatment of critical leg ischemia using minimally invasive therapies.
A Full Range of Services
We use medications as well as state-of-the-art, catheter-based procedures, gene therapy, and (when necessary) bypass surgery to restore blood flow to affected areas. We assess your vascular health through our noninvasive ICAVL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories)-certified Vascular Laboratory, in conjunction with state-of-the art angiographic imaging. Our team uses minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to restore healthy blood flow.
A Team Approach
Your healthcare team includes experts in PAD treatment and limb-salvage approaches, such as vascular and endovascular specialists, wound specialists, endocrinologists, and cardiologists. In addition to caring for patients, they direct local and national clinical trials to assess novel therapies for leg ischemia.
Seamless, Coordinated Care
The team at the Critical Limb Ischemia Center will provide you with an individualized plan of care. We will work with your primary physician to provide comprehensive vascular care and communicate regularly regarding your long-term vascular health.
