Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering

Yes, you may volunteer at more than one campus. However, if you begin the interview and clearance process with a particular campus, you must continue with that campus until you have completed a minimum of 75 hours. Once that minimum is met, you may volunteer with an additional campus.

You are expected to come in once a week for four consecutive hours.This is the minimum commitment for our volunteers.

You should expect to hear from us within four to six weeks upon receipt of your application.

All applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older and 18 for certain volunteer programs. Please check your campus' opportunities for specifications.

If you do not meet the minimum hour requirement as a volunteer, we will not be able to write you a letter or sign paperwork to confirm your completion of volunteer service.

Please contact your supervisor and let him or her know that you are unable to attend that day. We do ask that you make up any missed assignment(s) and give advanced notice when possible.

We offer volunteers a Leave of Absence for up to six months. After six months you will be considered a new volunteer and will need to complete the entire application and clearance process again. Returning to the program/holdingyour assignment during a leave is not guaranteed.

Ability to read, write, and speak English is required for our volunteer assignments.

Anywhere from 3-6 weeks. This is dependent on your availability and urgency to complete the process.

No, shadowing is outside the scope of the volunteer role.
