The Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Unit at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is a hospital-based ambulatory clinic managed jointly by The Dr. James J.Rahal Jr. Division of Infectious Diseases and the Department of Patient Care Services.
About us
The OPAT Unit was established in November 2011 as a high quality and convenient option for treatment of ambulatory patients who require once daily intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous treatments for various diseases including infections, enzyme deficiencies, rheumatologic and neurologic therapies, and others (with the exception of chemotherapy or blood products). Located on-site at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, we currently serve over 70 patients daily.

- Case managers to assist in arranging for additional services as required
- Medications administered by trained infusion nurses
- Patient care and progress coordinated with referring physicians and monitored by the OPAT team
- Multilingual staff and a telephone interpreter available at all times
- Convenient location for easy handicap access and access to on-site services such as radiology, laboratory testing, and specialists as needed
- Acceptance of most insurance plans
- Free parking for our patients
