Message from the Director of Dental Medicine
The Department of Dental and Oral Medicine endeavors to provide optimal comprehensive dental care to our patients while providing an educational environment of academic excellence. We assure that each resident experiences a full spectrum of general dentistry and sub-specialties of dentistry as well as rotations in required medical services. Each resident is expected to participate in the departments Continuous Quality Improvement program and is directly involved in problem solving both in patient management and case development.
Our staff of over 30 dentists supervise clinic sessions and present well developed didactic programs. Our post-graduate training program prepares the dentist to be confident in all matters of patient assessment and dental treatment planning. At the completion of the one-year GPR program we expect our residents to:
- Exercise prudent clinical judgment
- Demonstrate competence regarding their clinical skills
- Develop sensitivities regarding the treatment of the economically and medically compromised patient
- Improve their communication skills
