Study: Giving Birth at Hospital Safer Than at Home
May 1, 2014
Having your baby delivered at a hospital is much safer than at home or a birthing center, according to a new study. The study has been made public in The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, according to The New York Times. Those conducting the analysis found that no matter how they analyzed the numbers, children who were born outside of hospitals had an increased chance of dying.
Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville delivers almost 1,800 babies annually, and its Labor and Delivery Department has earned the prestigious 5-Star Rating. Lawrence provides prenatal testing and advanced medical expertise for at-risk mothers and babies. The hospital is also home to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for premature babies or those with special needs, staffed around the clock by board-certified neonatologists.
The new Maternity Center at Lawrence Hospital Center is home to 23 private, comfortable post-partum rooms, complete with their own bathrooms, showers, HDTVs and wi-fi.
