Michael J. Fosina, M.P.H., F.A.C.H.E., vice president and executive director of NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital, was honored as a 2011 American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Senior Regent's Award Winner by the Healthcare Leaders of New York.

Based in Chicago, the ACHE is an international professional society of more than 30,000 health care executives who lead hospitals, health care systems and other health care organizations. The award, which was presented June 15 during the HLNY's Annual Gala in East Meadow, N.Y., recognizes ACHE fellows who have made significant contributions to the advancement of health care management excellence.

"I am pleased and honored to receive this award, and I am very proud of the work we've done to advance patient safety and quality, increase volume and expand services, making NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital a premiere community teaching hospital and trusted health care destination for the communities of northern Manhattan, the Bronx and beyond," says Mr. Fosina.

Prior to assuming his current role at The Allen Hospital in 2000, Mr. Fosina was the director of Integration and Accreditation for the newly merged NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Fosina began his administrative career at the former New York Hospital, where he held several leadership positions. He has been a speaker in The Joint Commission national broadcasts and has lectured on patient safety initiatives and other health care issues both regionally and nationally. He is an active member on numerous boards of community organizations and is a recipient of several awards for his community work. He is board certified in health care management and a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and his master's degree from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Mr. Fosina currently lives in New Rochelle, N.Y. with his family.

Mr. Fosina was also recently honored by the Riverdale Senior Services at its 37th Anniversary Spring Celebration for his ongoing support of the organization, of which he is a past president.
