Loughlin Named Pediatrics Chair at Weill Cornell

Gerald M. Loughlin, M.D., has been appointed Chairman of Pediatrics at NewYork Weill Cornell Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian.
An authority on pediatric respiratory disease, including asthma, cystic fibrosis and sleep apnea, Dr. Loughlin was a Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Director of the Eudowood Division of Pediatric Respiratory Sciences.
Dr. Loughlin built one of the nation's strongest programs for children with respiratory disorders during his years at Hopkins. He was also Vice Chairman for Clinical Pediatrics and Director of the Clinical Practice Association for Pediatrics there, and Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
He received his M.D. from the University of Rochester and a Masters of Science in Business Health Care Finance and Administration from Johns Hopkins. He has served on the Boards of Directors of several major healthcare organizations, as well as the Board of the American Thoracic Society. In addition, he was Associate Director of the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Johns Hopkins.
Gerald and Barbara Loughlin have two daughters, Dr. Ceila Loughlin, an intern in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, and Shaye Loughlin, Program Assistant in the Civic Education Project at Northwestern University.
Thanks to a generous donation by the Robert and Joyce Menschel and David and Nancy Paduano families, Dr. Loughlin will be the first Nancy C. Paduano Professor of Pediatrics.
