Proud parents Kerry and Desmond Lyons, from Irvington, New York, welcomed identical triplet boys Kevin (born at 2:14 p.m.), Declan (born at 2:15 p.m.) and Cormac (born at 2:16 p.m.) into the world today at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The boys join big brother, Liam, and big sister, Ciara.

"Identical triplets are very rare and result when the original fertilized egg splits and then one of the resultant cells splits again. While triplets, in general, are uncommon, identical triplets are extremely rare. Estimates range anywhere from 1 in 64,000 to 1 in 500,000 to 1 in 100 million," explains Dr. Robin Kalish the couple's obstetrician. "In addition, what makes this patient's situation even more unusual is the fact that she did not undergo any fertility treatments."
