New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital''s Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital hosts a free pulmonary hypertension (PH) support group. This group connects people with PH and educates them on treatments and new developments for the disease. The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hospital''s Wesley House, Room 7A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free surgical weight reduction information seminar and support group. This month the group will meet on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Executive Dining Room and on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Buckley 8 Conference Room. During the first 30 minutes of the seminar, a surgeon will conduct an information session for individuals who are interested in learning about surgical weight reduction. A 90-minute support group meeting, open to pre- and post-operative patients will follow the information session. The Division of Dental Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital and the American Dental Association will sponsor Give Kids A Smile Day! on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children, ages one to 16, are invited to attend and receive free dental screenings, including sealant placement, cleanings, x-rays and more, if applicable. Educational information will also be offered. The event will take place in the offices of the Hospital''s Division of Dental Medicine, located on the first floor of the Kirkwood Pavilion, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. The groups are run by a certified diabetes educator and are open to people living with diabetes, as well as those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
