He has already contributed significantly to the growth of our System, and to developing the strong relational and collaborative base that has been the underpinning of our success."
"I am thrilled," said Dr. Klein, "to be part of a team that will enhance health-care delivery to the residents of the Greater Metropolitan area, and that will work to enhance the quality, efficiency, and clinical mission of all of our member institutions."
In addition to his new posts in the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, Dr. Klein will continue in his role as Executive Vice Chairman of Pediatrics, Associate Director of Pediatric Cardiology, and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. He also serves on the operating board of the Physicians Organization of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
Dr. Klein has held a number of other academic, clinical, and administrative responsibilities through three decades of service to the NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center. Among these, he has served as Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare Network, and as Director of Pediatrics at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).
Dr. Klein is an active member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. And he has published extensively in the field of pediatric cardiology.
A native of New York City, Dr. Klein received his medical degree from the State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center in 1972, and completed his internship and residency in pediatrics, and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at New York-Cornell. In 1976, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at New York-Cornell.
