The week of August 1-7 is recognized as World Breastfeeding Week. To mark this annual global event, New York Methodist Hospital will host World Breastfeeding Day. The event will feature free educational materials and giveaways, and an NYM certified lactation consultant will be available to answer questions. World Breastfeeding Day will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Carrington Pavilion Atrium Lobby, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free cancer support group open to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones. The Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital hosts several free support groups for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

• The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Yoga Class will take place on Friday, August 7 and 21, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6B, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
• The Parkinson's Wellness and Exercise Dance Class will take place on Thursday, August 13 and 27, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 6B, located at 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
• The Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Group will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hospital. Call for location.
• The Parkinson's Caregivers Support Group will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hospital. Call for location.

New York Methodist Hospital offers a free awareness group for patients who have experienced brain aneurysms or subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAH) which can lead to stroke. The Aneurysm Awareness Group will meet on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The meeting will take place in the Buckley 8 Conference Room, located on the eighth floor of the Hospital's main building at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital hosts a free hepatitis C (HCV) support group for people living with HCV and their loved ones. The group is directed by a physician specializing in liver disorders. The Hepatitis C Support Group will meet on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free diabetes support group. The group is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and is open to people living with diabetes, as well as those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Join the Diabetes Support Group for a discussion on the topic of Emergency Preparedness: Dealing with Diabetes in an Emergency Situation on Thursday, August 27, 2015.
