New York Methodist Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group for new mothers. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Breastfeeding Support Group focuses on providing encouragement and information for mothers and their newborns, from birth to three months old. A certified lactation consultant leads the group. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Wesley House, Rooms 3K-C, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free support group for individuals who have been recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The Living with MS Support Group offers information and a place to begin to discuss concerns, experiences and resources. The group meets on every Tuesday in April from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the exception of April 15, 2014. The meetings take place in the Hospital's Buckley 8 Conference Room located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. Please call 800-344-4867 for more information and to register (required).
New York Methodist Hospital hosts several free support groups for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers. The Parkinson's Disease Patient Support Group will meet on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Wesley House 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn and on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 506 Sixth Street, Buckley 8 Conference Room, Park Slope, Brooklyn. The Parkinson's Health and Wellness Dance Class will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 and Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 748 Union Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. The Parkinson's Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in NYM's Wesley House 6A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free cancer support group. The group is led by a NYM oncologist and a retired chaplain. It is open to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones. New York Methodist Hospital hosts a free pulmonary hypertension (PH) support group. This group connects people with PH and educates them on treatments and new developments for the disease. The Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group will meet on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hospital's Wesley House, Room 7A, 501 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers free surgical weight reduction information seminars and support group meetings. The NYM Surgical Weight Reduction Information Seminar and Support Group meetings will take place on Wednesday, April 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Buckley 8 Conference Room and on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Executive Dining Room. Meetings are open to individuals interested in learning about surgical weight reduction, as well as those who have undergone surgical weight reduction, and will take place in the main Hospital building located at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital offers a free awareness group for patients who have experienced brain aneurysms or subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAH) which can lead to stroke. The Aneurysm Awareness Group will meet on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The meeting will take place in the Buckley 8 Conference Room, located on the eighth floor of the Hospital's main building at 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn. New York Methodist Hospital invites Brooklyn families to our second annual Day of Dance on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Classes will include salsa, soca, zumba, belly dancing and more. NYM will also offer free health screenings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Day of Dance will be held at New York Methodist Hospital's Carrington Pavilion, 506 Sixth Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
