Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards recognized NewYork-Presbyterian’s digital health platform, NYP OnDemand, with an honorable mention in the health category.
“We are honored to be recognized by Fast Company alongside some of the most innovative leaders in the technology industry,” said Dr. Peter Fleischut, senior vice president and chief transformation officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “We believe that investing in health information technology and innovation are critical to the future of healthcare and helps us put patients first at NewYork-Presbyterian. Our goal with NYP OnDemand is to help patients take better control of their health, with the ease and convenience of virtual, on-the-go access to NewYork-Presbyterian’s world-class medical care.”
Launched in July 2016, NYP OnDemand is a comprehensive suite of digital health services designed to improve and expand patient care, and to extend physician collaboration. The suite delivers care and expertise from ColumbiaDoctors and Weill Cornell Medicine, confidentially and securely, allowing for quick and easy communication from a mobile phone, tablet or computer. NYP OnDemand’s services include: Second Opinion, Inter-hospital Consult, Digital Urgent Care, Virtual Visit, Digital ED Express Care, and a Mobile Stroke treatment ambulance. In just over a year, NYP OnDemand providers have completed more than 6,900 encounters, and recorded a 95 percent satisfaction rate for services across the suite.
“NYP OnDemand is the cornerstone of our strong digital health programming,” said Daniel Barchi, senior vice president and chief information officer at NewYork-Presbyterian. “This distinction from Fast Company is a testament to our ongoing exploration of new and innovative ways to use telemedicine to provide the very best care to our patients.”
The Innovation by Design Awards program, now in its sixth year, honors the most innovative and disruptive design solutions created to resolve today’s most challenging business issues. Finalists were selected from a record number of more than 2,500 international submissions across 13 categories—ultimately recognizing 299 entrants. The distinction will be highlighted in Fast Company’s October print issue.
