A focus on regenerative medicine

Regenerative medicine aims to harness the body’s own healing ability to treat degenerative conditions and sports injuries.  At NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley, our regenerative medicine experts offer the latest treatments to relieve pain and speed the healing of orthopedic conditions. Our doctors typically perform these procedures using advanced image guidance, such as ultrasound, to ensure accuracy and precision.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is a non-biologic treatment that stimulates the healing of tendon and ligament injuries as well as mild degenerative conditions.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma harnesses concentrated platelets from your blood to release growth factors to the area of injury, further stimulating healing of tissue or joints.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy offers a non-invasive way to treat musculoskeletal conditions. This therapy helps speed healing by targeting the injury with focused shockwaves or radial pressure waves. Kidney stones and gallstones may also be treated with ESWT in some cases.

Percutaneous Tenotomy

Pecutaneous tenotomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat tendon issues (typically in the elbow, foot and ankle, and shoulder). This surgical procedure involves creating inflammation to trigger the body’s healing process, allowing the tendon to repair itself.
