Stories From People With New Depression (00:01:29)

Video Transcript

When you're first diagnosed with depression, it's easy to think that there is something wrong with you...and that you are the only person who feels this way. The truth is that many people struggle with depression...probably even people you know.

Guest Voice 1: "I feel like I'm a loser, all the time. All the time. The only thing I can do is sleep." Guest Voice 2: "They tell me I'm depressed.

Yeah well...who wouldn't be down if they lived with this pain?"

Guest Voice 3: "There are so many things I don't like about myself. Right now I can't even think of one thing I'm proud of, and I'm taking it out on the people I love.

I don't like the person I've become." Guest Voice 4: "I just don't enjoy the things I used to. I find myself thinking 'What am I doing with my life...what's the point?' " Guest Voice 5: "I cut myself off... I built a wall around me, and nothing comes in or out. I don't feel much of anything. I just function. And I'm drinking more." Guest Voice 6: "I always feel like an outsider... No matter how hard I try, I just don't feel like I belong."

Guest Voice 7: "I have this horrible voice in my head that's constantly telling me how worthless I am. What would people say if they knew this about me?"

By listening to these voices of depression, you can discover that the problem isn't you... The problem is depression.
