Head and neck surgeons at NewYork-Presbyterian provide expert clinical care for all aspects of head and neck disorders, including disorders of the ear, nose, sinuses, pharynx, larynx, oral cavity, neck, thyroid, salivary glands, bronchial tubes, and esophagus, as well as cosmetic surgery of the face and neck. These surgeons conduct arthroscopic examination of the nasal cavity and throat, and also have expertise in treating a wide variety of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including those of the salivary glands, thyroid, tongue, lips, throat and skin cancer.
Research and innovation at NewYork-Presbyterian allows us to offer patients the most advanced treatment possible. In conjunction with the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center is pioneering a new minimally invasive, stereotactic technique for skull base surgery. This technique improves conventional skull base surgical procedures by simultaneously maximizing the removal of tumors and inflammatory lesions while minimizing surgical risks and adverse effects.
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell uses a team approach to the treatment of complex skull base tumors, including acoustic neuromas. Each patient benefits from the expertise of neurosurgeons, neurotologists, head and neck surgeons, neurophysiologists, neuroanesthesiologists, neuroradiologists, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, and maxillofacial surgeons. Each of these subspecialists bring their own specific expertise in the care of the patient with a cranial base lesion.
