Junior Volunteer Program
This program is currently full.
Get hands-on experience today. Build real-life skills for tomorrow.
It's usually easy to spot the NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Junior Volunteers in the Hospital. They're enthusiastic, energetic, and cheerful, interested in learning and providing support. The program attracts many high school students and the recruitment process is highly selective, based on the quality of applications and an in-person interview. We place Junior Volunteers in two areas:
Administrative
Clinical and administrative departments welcome Junior Volunteers seeking to volunteer in an office setting. You will answer phones, greet patients, enter data, file, and photocopy documents. This placement is best suited for students with an early dismissal time as most administrative departments close at 5:00 p.m.
Patient care
You will learn to feed, care for, and comfort patients of all ages on nursing units throughout the Hospital. Working as part of the nursing team, you will have an opportunity to make a positive impact on a patient's day and get hands-on patient care experience as you respond to call bells and patient requests. This placement is best suited for students with an interest in pursuing a healthcare profession.
Our staff and patients will depend on you! It is critical that you honor your volunteer commitment and attend all of your shifts. We can only provide verification of hours for school community service requirements once you have fulfilled your commitment to the program.
We would love to hear from you if you are: reliable, enthusiastic, compassionate, interested in learning about healthcare, have a positive attitude, are eager to learn

Times: Monday – Friday, 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. and weekends 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. One weekday shift required. The latest shift is 4 p.m.
