Pediatric ER
More than one third of all medical emergencies nationwide involve children, and studies have shown that children treated in a pediatric emergency department receive faster, more effective care.
Located within NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital's main emergency room, the pediatric emergency service is a self-contained area staffed by physicians certified in both emergency medicine and pediatrics, and by registered nurses with specialized training.
Everything in the pediatric emergency service is geared toward treating children and their families: all equipment is "child-sized", the patient gowns feature cartoon characters, and the staff is sensitive to the needs of parents, as well as children.
The separate pediatric waiting room is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
