During each year of training, the house officer assumes more and more responsibility for direct patient care.
PGY-1 Categorical
- General Medical Rotations: 7 Months
- Ambulatory Medicine: 2 Months
- Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center: 1 Month
- Intensive Care Unit: 1 Month
- Vacation: 1 month
PGY-1 Preliminary
- General Medical Rotations: 9.5 Months
- Elective: 1 Month
- Intensive Care Unit: 2 Weeks
- Vacation: 1 month
PGY-2
- General Medical Rotations: 3 Months
- Ambulatory Medicine: 2 Months
- Elective: 1 Month
- Critical Care Units (ICU, Pulmonary Stepdown, & CCU): 5 Months
- Vacation: 1 month
PGY-3
- General Medical Rotations: 3 Months
- Ambulatory Medicine: 2 Months
- Elective: 2.5 Months
- Critical Care Units (ICU, Pulmonary Stepdown, & CCU): 2 Months
- Medical Triage/Medical Consultations: 1.5 Months
- Vacation: 1 month
