Abdolreza Aminlari
Abdolreza Aminlari is a Brooklyn-based artist with work at the intersection of contemporary craft and social practice. He uses geometry and abstraction to access the cross-cultural reception of embroidery and labor. A variety of visual effects are achieved using 24-K gold thread and common sewing thread, which is hand-stitched directly into paper. Taking influence from architecture and patterning, the works function as discrete investigations of scale, light, and color. Aminlari’s general practice is further concerned with the labor proposition and fundamental process of repetition inherent in the act of sewing.
