The Sexual Health Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) is a full-service, ADA compliant HIV and Sexual Health mobile medical unit. The MMU provides gender-affirming, LGBTQAI+, and trauma-informed care with a focus on addressing HIV and sexual health disparities in Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, and Washington Heights. The MMU will bring HIV screening, prevention, treatment as well as additional sexual health services directly to community members at-risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV or HCV infection, who are lost to care, and/or have significant barriers to engaging in care in traditional medical settings. The MMU will employ a full-time staff who will work with local community-based organizations (CBOs), NewYork-Presbyterian community and population health programs, and New York City care delivery systems to provide additional targeted outreach.
Who We Are
Mission
NYP’s Sexual Health MMU will help ensure that NewYork-Presbyterian vigorously supports New York City’s End the HIV Epidemic (ETE) initiative. The Sexual Health MMU will provide inclusive, gender affirming, compassionate, and accessible health care services to all New Yorkers in need while focusing upon individuals who are at risk for HIV, perhaps unaware of their HIV status, or who are living with HIV but have fallen out of care. The Sexual Health MMU will additionally provide HIV and sexual health prevention and educational services, testing and treatment, and additional resources to help address potential complicating social determinants of health.
Program Vision
The MMU will bring accessible and affordable health care services to New York’s diverse communities, to improve sexual health and HIV outcomes. We will create safe and inclusive spaces for all New Yorkers, with a focus on communities and individuals who currently face access barriers to HIV and sexual health services.

Our Impact & Outcomes
The Sexual Health MMU aims to reduce health disparities in communities of color and among LGBTQAI+ youth and young adults by providing accessible, gender affirming, inclusive, free, or affordable health care to communities currently facing barriers accessing sexual health services and at greatest risk for HIV infection, transmission and poor outcomes. The MMU will serve areas which currently have the highest rate of new HIV diagnoses and patients who are at risk for STI and new HIV infections. The MMU will provide accessible and affordable treatment to individuals who are undiagnosed or out of care, as well as health education and risk reduction services and through doing so will reduce the impact of ongoing HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and mpox epidemics. The overarching goal is to help end the HIV epidemic consistent with NYC, NYS and HHS planning by 2030 and help ensure a future HIV-free generation of New Yorkers.
