Integrative Medicine Consultation
At Integrative Health and Wellbeing at NewYork-Presbyterian, you may contact us to schedule individual services, or you may begin your care with a 45-60 minute comprehensive evaluation with one of our physicians. They will perform a comprehensive medical evaluation to assess your personal healthcare needs.
The evaluation consists of a comprehensive medical history, assessment of your health goals, and a close look at the underlying factors that influence your health. We order any additional lab work or other tests that you may need. At your next visit, we review these results with you and partner with you to create a personalized treatment plan based on lifestyle modifications.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture utilizes an energy system within the body that follows pathways, called "meridians," which connect with internal organs. Acupuncture treatment consists of the gentle insertion and stimulation of thin, disposable, sterile needles at strategic points on the surface of the body. Each point provides a specific function to regulate a free flow of blood and vital energy, or "chi." Acupuncture balances this energy, which directs the body's natural healing ability to where it is needed.
Our acupuncture services are provided by a licensed acupuncturist (LAc).
Integrative Medicine Consultation
Physicians who are board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine can perform a comprehensive evaluation to assess your additional healthcare needs. The visit consists of a comprehensive medical history, an assessment of your health goals, and a close look at the underlying factors that influence your health. We order any additional blood work or other tests that you may need. At your next visit, we review these results with you and partner with you to create a personalized treatment plan.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a wonderful addition to the current treatments you may be receiving. It is useful for promoting relaxation and relieving pain, anxiety, and a variety of health conditions such as osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, muscle soreness due to exercise or participation in a sports activity, and low back and neck pain. It is also beneficial for relieving the side effects of some cancer treatments. Massage promotes a sense of well-being and helps to balance mind, body, and spirit.
Our licensed massage therapist, who is trained in a variety of techniques, will discuss your medical history and your current health with you, and target your specific symptoms or areas of need.
Mind-Body Instruction
We provide individual instruction on meditation, mindfulness, guided imagery, yoga, relaxation exercises, and other techniques like aromatherapy and Tibetan singing bowls. These approaches may help to optimize the mind-body connection, attention, and resilience.
See our brochure about Mind-Body Techniques for Stress Reduction.
Nutritional Counseling
Based on your initial evaluation, we may suggest individual nutritional consultation. This includes tailored recommendations and creation of a food plan, along with guidance to help you follow it. Nutritional counseling is provided by a registered dietitian (RD) with specialized training in areas such as functional nutrition.
Psychotherapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a form of talk therapy in which the therapist and client work together to understand the ways in which thoughts affect one’s feelings and behaviors. The therapy is structured and goal-directed, with the client playing an active role in identifying the specific goals he or she seeks to achieve. Unlike other forms of therapy, the focus of CBT is on the here and now. Using a variety of techniques the therapist helps the client identify maladaptive thoughts, beliefs and attitudes that contribute to negative feelings and behaviors. Over the course of treatment the client learns skills to modify perceptions, effectively problem-solve and improve communication. Ultimately, the tools gained in CBT will promote positive behavioral change and growth.
Our cognitive behavioral therapy is provided by a licensed clinical psychologist.
Shared Medical Appointments
At Integrative Health, we strongly believe in addressing whole person health, the physical, emotional, social and community aspects of what makes us who we are. In an effort to make this model of care accessible to all, even in time when we are staying home, we have implemented some innovative services that we hope you can take advantage of. Our popular group medical visits are now available virtually over Zoom which you can access through your phone or computer. These visits will be offered by one of our physicians and another team member such as our psychologist, nutritionist, yoga therapist and meditation instructor.
Yoga
Yoga studios are plentiful, especially in New York City. Unfortunately, without proper guidance, yoga-related injuries are also abundant. At Integrative Health, our experienced instructors are familiar with human anatomy and can give detailed instructors to optimize your sessions and help prevent injuries. Our yoga classes are part of our research-based, holistic approach to patient care.
