Corinne Cole's Story
Patients diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer are usually in their 70s. Corinne was only 22. Chemotherapy and radiation was the standard treatment but Corinne didn’t want to risk her quality of life, including infertility, so young. With the help of her specialist, Dr. Allyson Ocean at NewYork-Presbyterian, she was able to find a treatment that enabled her to live a normal, healthy life and didn’t sacrifice her fertility.
That was over 15 years ago. Corinne has since been cancer-free and is proud to report she recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Not only was Dr. Ocean right by her side after the delivery, but Corinne also honored Dr. Ocean by naming the baby after her.
