Overview

Long-term Volunteer Guidelines

  • 150 hours of service required minimum
  • A minimum of 4 hours a week
  • There are limited evening and weekend opportunities

Summer Only Volunteer Guidelines

  • Applications accepted by March 31st
  • 120 hours of service required minimum
  • 6-8 week commitment

Volunteer Opportunities

Administrative and Clerical. This opportunity offers volunteers the chance to provide much needed administrative support for the hospital staff in various departments. Volunteers will gain skills in office management, file management, labeling, running errands, reception of walk-in and phone inquiries, and other general office duties.

Available between Monday to Friday from 9:00AM -- 5:00PM depend on each department's available schedule.

Public Information. Volunteers in these positions will provide hospitality to patients, families, and visitors. Volunteers will maintain a secure environment within the hospital grounds. Duties involve greeting visitors, answer all patient/visitor inquiries regarding both in-patient and out-patient service. Volunteer must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Available daily 9 AM - 5 PM

Community Outreach. One of our hospital's missions is to reach out and provide healthcare to those who work or live in the community. We offer many health outreach events and health fairs throughout the year. The dates of the outreach events vary. Many events occur on weekends. Volunteers will assist with setting up, registering patients, directing traffic. Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred and volunteer must be at least 16 years old.

Available vary throughout the year.

Laboratory. In the laboratory setting, volunteers will have the opportunity to observe daily operations and learn how technicians work. Volunteers will also assist in data entry, report relay (by phone), slide preparation, specimen labeling, logging and other general office duties. Volunteer must be 18 years old.

Available between Monday to Friday from 9:00AM -- 4:00PM depend on each department's available schedule.

Pharmacy. We welcome motivated pharmacy major students who are enthusiastic about learning in a fast-paced environment. All students must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy. Pharmacy volunteers will be working under the supervision of pharmacists; pharmacy volunteers enhance their experience compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals for safe and appropriate patient use. Students have the opportunity to work and learn in a variety of specialties throughout our hospital.
