Sexual Assault

Rape and other forms of sexual assault are profound acts of violence in which the assaulted individual is rendered helpless.Ê Survivors often experience a profound sense of loss of control, betrayal of feelings of safety and a sudden disruption in their lives.Ê Both men and women may be victims of sexual assault.ÊÊ

The hospital provides free twenty-four hour services to rape and sexual assault survivors and to their families.Ê Staff and volunteers are trained to respond to the special needs of survivors of sexual assault. Crisis intervention is provided by social workers and trained volunteer Rape Advocates.Ê Survivors are provided with support, advocacy, information and referral and free professional counseling.
