Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Women At Risk! Volunteering is a creative and meaningful way to give, and there are many opportunities.
On-Call Volunteer
There are certain times during the year when the WAR office needs help with very large mailings. Being an "On-Call" volunteer would involve allowing us to contact you, with a few days notice, to see if you would be available to come in and lend a hand. If you are interested in being an "On-Call" volunteer, please contact Lisa Held at (212)305-3269.
Event Volunteer
Throughout the year, Women At Risk sponsors events that require additional help from volunteers. If you would like to help us with one of these events, please contact Lisa Held at 212-305-3269.

Resource Library Volunteer
The WAR Resource Library is staffed by volunteers who are breast cancer survivors. They provide information and support to women and their families undergoing breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. In addition, we assist patients visiting oncologists regarding other cancers.
Volunteers must be cancer survivors, preferably of breast cancer, who are at least one year out of treatment. New volunteers are trained for approximately three hours, in two sessions by a social worker and the Library Coordinator, and spend three half-day sessions as "interns" with regular library volunteers. After that time, a new volunteer can assume either a weekly or half-day assignment, or act as a substitute for library volunteers. Interested parties should contact Lisa Held at (212)305-3269.
