Women At Risk

Patient Navigator Program

Women At Risk implemented a Patient Navigator Program in 2007 to help women diagnosed with breast cancer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. The Patient Navigator is here to guide women and their families through the clinical process and facilitate appropriate delivery of medical and ancillary services.

After a patient is diagnosed with breast cancer, she is introduced to the Patient Navigator, who provides her with resources about NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia , breast cancer, pre- and post-op instructions, and community resources for information, support, wigs and post-bra shops. The Patient Navigator also helps the patient overcome any barriers she may face and help obtain any services she may need.

Patient navigation has been proven to improve cancer outcomes and increase patient satisfaction. Women At Risk is proud to offer this service to patients at the hospital.

WAR would like to thank A Cure In Our Lifetime for their generous grants to develop and support this program.
