Women's Health Rehabilitation Program
Women's bodies go through many changes during the lifecycle from puberty to menopause, including the dramatic changes that occur during and after pregnancy. Our specially trained and experienced physical therapists can ease many of the difficulties associated with pregnancy and other conditions specific to women.
Some common pregnancy related conditions that are seen may include neck and back pain, sciatica, sacral and coccygeal pain, urinary incontinence, leg and foot pathologies, carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve entrapments, and pain during labor and delivery. Other non-pregnancy related conditions that commonly affect women are incontinence, osteoporosis, lymphedema, pelvic pain, musculoskeletal, and neurological disorders.
Female patients may be referred to physical therapy for the evaluation and treatment of the above and many other conditions. Our comprehensive approach includes evaluation and individualized treatment by a specially trained physical therapist. Treatments may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, electrical stimulation and biofeedback, neuromuscular re-education, postural training, patient education, and an integrated home exercise program.
