Physical and Occupational Therapists from NewYork-Presbyterian Complete a Triathlon and Raise $21,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Four of our physical and occupational therapists are going above and beyond the standard recommendation for keeping fit. These triathletes have participated not only in raising awareness but in raising $21,000 in contributions!
On April 27th 2008 physical therapists Liz Alfonso, Nancy Ferreira and Seewai Kwan; and occupational therapist Rebecca Kim ran 6.2 miles, biked 25 miles, and swam 1 mile in the St. Anthony's Triathlon in Tampa, Florida. With the help of friends and colleagues, Denise Coleman, PT and Jenny Teyfel, PT, they raised $21,000 for the New York City Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services and specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. As of 2008, the organization has raised over $71 million. The Society's Team in Training® program offers various endurance-sport challenges, including marathons, triathlons, hiking adventures, and century cycling rides to provide people with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Americans living with blood cancers.
Well done ladies, you've made us proud!
