Rehabilitation Medicine
Physical Therapy
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center both participate in active physical therapy clinical education programs. We currently have affiliations with most of the local physical therapy programs, as well as numerous programs from out of the area. The clinical staff presently accepts 60 students each year on average in a variety of clinical settings. We are able to handle students of different levels, in both the one-to-one and two-to-one models of supervision and from both Masters and Doctoral Programs.
We are committed to providing quality learning experiences and guidance for students to help them develop the skills necessary to become vital and responsible members of the profession. Students are encouraged to develop their communication and clinical skills in response to the expectations of both their schools and our site.
Our combined department has over 100 therapists with up to 20 years of clinical experience in varied clinical specialties. This resource pool, combined with the health sciences and medical libraries, the diversity of clinical experiences, and the teaching hospital atmosphere, make this a dynamic and rich learning environment.
Student affiliations usually are arranged up to one year in advance and are done via communication between the Academic and Center Coordinators of Clinical Education. Students are welcomed with an orientation and tour on their first day of practice.
