Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a health profession that helps people live life to its fullest. Occupational therapists help people of all ages who have had an illness or injury relearn the skills of daily living. Occupational therapy helps people with physical, developmental, psychological and social needs lead independent, productive and satisfying lives. Occupational therapists are specially trained and credentialed in the field and rely on evidence-based best practices to improve patient outcomes. In order to maximize independent function in the home and community, therapy focuses on self-care training and education, the use of adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques, customized brace fabrication, motor-control training, function-based cognitive and perceptual training, balance and coordination. Occupational therapists hold Masters Degrees and are certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
