The Department of Psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center is one of the largest, most prestigious departments in the country, with a long, distinguished history of providing outstanding leadership in patient and family care, training, and research related to all areas of psychiatric disorders.

The Department is ranked among the best psychiatry services in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in its annual Best Hospitals survey. In addition, its clinicians also hold faculty positions at the Ivy League Weill Cornell Medical College.

Clinicians at the Department of Psychiatry generally treat patients and conduct research through its Payne Whitney Clinic. The Clinic was founded in 1932 and is affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College. It provides psychiatric treatment to individuals of all ages through specialized inpatient and outpatient programs and clinics. Special programs tailored specifically to women and older patients are also available. Therapists for all programs are sensitive to cultural differences.
