Comprehensive Therapy

Family therapy: Family members are involved throughout the course of each patient's stay, and offer support and education to make the patient's transition back home an easier one. Eating disorders can affect the whole family, especially when the patient is young, and family therapy helps support the whole family through the experience.

Accredited teaching: School-age patients meet with a certified teacher each weekday for classroom time and spend the afternoons completing homework assignments. Staff at The Outlook work closely with patients' local school districts to ensure continuity of relevant coursework.

Aftercare planning: Patients need continued support after they complete inpatient treatment. Aftercare is discussed with patients and their family members throughout each patient's hospitalization

Clinicians create an individualized treatment and nutritional plan for each patient and engage families throughout the recovery process. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy patients are taught how to modify their eating behaviors, make the best choices, and develop healthy patterns they can use for the rest of their lives.

To assist patients in accomplishing their goals, The Outlook offers supervised meals and meal preparation activities; nutritional counseling; meal process discussions after meals; individual, group, and family therapy; pharmacotherapy; social skills training; therapeutic activities; and vocational evaluation

A Healthy Environment

As a patient progresses through the program and begins to stabilize, it may be therapeutic to utilize The Outlook's extensive landscaped grounds. Gardens, walking paths, tennis courts, a pool, and a par-three golf course are all located on the beautiful campus.
