Schizophrenia is a complex disorder which can cause a wide range of symptoms that can vary from one individual to the next. NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia professionals evaluate each patient thoroughly and employ medical therapy and counseling to manage the disorder. Inpatient and outpatient care are offered at a variety of locations. Special programs are available for children and adolescents, college students, women, and older individuals.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia also features a dedicated Cognitive Remediation program to address cognitive dysfunction resulting from schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. This program features different types of group therapy that help patients improve their thinking skills. The Lieber Schizophrenia Research Clinic offers outpatient services to patients with schizophrenia who participate in research studies.
