Overview
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, announces a full-time summer unit internship that entails 400 supervised hours of ministry practice and learning. The 11-week intensive program, beginning the end of May and ending the beginning of August, will include at least 100 hours of educational and group seminar meetings and 300 hours of patient visitation time.
Participants will include seminarians, qualified laypeople, members of religious orders, and other students who have motivation to minister and learn in a collegial and challenging setting. The curriculum focuses upon competencies in self-awareness, interpersonal relating, pastoral care skills, and ministry development. Each student designs an individualized learning contract. Seminars will provide a context for the review of pastoral encounters, the exploration of peer relationships and in-depth learning through group and individual supervision regarding pastoral practice.
