Symptoms of a stroke include:

  • Weakness or paralysis of an arm and/or leg on one side of the body
  • Loss of coordination or movement
  • Confusion, dizziness, or fainting
  • Loss of sensation in the face, an arm, or a leg
  • Problems with speech or vision

Neurologists Randolph S. Marshall, M.D., and Babak Navi, M.D., explain the F.A.S.T. system to recognize when someone is having a stroke.

Stroke is a medical emergency. People experiencing these symptoms should seek care immediately by calling 911. All stroke therapy is most effective when started as early as possible.
